DIGIHEALTH
Welcome to DIGIHEALTH Project
DIGIHEALTH project will help to improve the quality of health education at the partner universities in Lebanon and Syria with cooperation of EU-experience through integrating technological tools in consistence with pedagogical best practices for an active and collaborative learning. As well as by building the capacity of the universities to design and develop e-curricula to be available on an open accessible portal.
Why DIGIHEALTH Project
The lack of digital skills among health educators, coupled with the limited use of ICTs in higher education institutions, particularly in Syrian universities, have led to a low level of engagement, low participation and understanding of educational materials, as well as low attendance rates with non-interactive lectures.
Disadvantages groups such as refugees and Internally Displaced People (IDPs) are not following programs in health disciplines and many initiatives do no offer opportunities to follow onlione programs in health disciplines, as a result, important and most vulnerable segment of the society are prevented from health education.
The DIGIHEALTH project aims to add great value to the teaching process in Lebanon and Syria by empowering academic staff at health education with contemporary teaching competencies. A capacity-building program will be implemented to facilitate the transfer of intensive knowledge among consortium members to overcome the above-mentioned problems.
The DIGIHEALTH goal will be achieved through completion of the following specific objectives:
√ Support Lebanese and Syrian HEIs in adopting and implementing effective new technologies of digital skills and learning methods for an active and collaborative learning.
√ Develop the ability of academic staff at health disciplines in Lebanese and Syrian HEIs to employ modern pedagogical and didactical methodologies for innovative ICT teaching and learning settings.
√ Open up higher education in Lebanon and Syria to integrate refugees, IDPs and students from disadvantaged groups including women and rural areas inhabitants in inclusive virtual classroom settings.
DIGIHEALTH Expected Results
The main outcome of DIGIHEALTH is the establishment of two innovative teaching and learning centers in higher education in Lebanon and Syria, which will serve as training centers for health educators on new digital skills and interactive teaching and learning methods as well as the development of e-modules exploiting the digital revolution. Deevelopment of e-materials will stimulate critical thinking and imagination and make concepts easier in teaching and understanding to achieve greater student focus and retention. These centers will promote regional cooperation through the exchange of e-materials, teaching experience and best teaching and learning practices.
